A school in Scotland is preparing to offer a new course about Bitcoin
Lomond School is working with economist and author Saifedean Ammous to design the program, built around the ideas found in Ammous’s work, The Bitcoin Standard. The book, first published in 2018, explains how Bitcoin compares with traditional forms of money.
At the same time, the school will begin accepting Bitcoin for tuition starting in the autumn 2025 semester.

In an April 12 post on X, Ammous said, “I’m going to be working with Lomond School to develop a curriculum for bitcoin and Austrian economics”. He looked forward to helping develop the curriculum and making the material more accessible worldwide.
The school’s principal, Claire Chisholm, said she was glad to work with Ammous and noted the support shown by people in the Bitcoin community.
More educational institutions have started offering programs that explore cryptocurrency and how it fits into financial systems. In the US, New York University began offering a course titled “The Law and Business of Bitcoin and Other Cryptocurrencies” in 2014. Stanford University introduced its own class focused on the structure and use of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, in 2015.
