Walmart has introduced a new feature that lets people shop for its products by chatting with ChatGPT.
According to an announcement on October 14, Shoppers can look for groceries, cleaning supplies, and other everyday goods, then pay for them without leaving the conversation.
This update is part of Walmart’s collaboration with OpenAI. Once customers connect their Walmart accounts to ChatGPT, they can use a “buy” button within the app to place orders.

Sam’s Club members can benefit as well. They will be able to plan meals, reorder regular items, and explore new products.
Walmart said this setup will help it understand shoppers’ needs more clearly. Instead of waiting for someone to search for a product, the system can suggest things ahead of time.
At the same time, Walmart has been developing its own artificial intelligence (AI) helper called Sparky. Sparky helps customers browse, compare, and purchase items.
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a statement:
For many years now, e-commerce shopping experiences have consisted of a search bar and a long list of item responses. That is about to change.
He added that Walmart is working toward a shopping experience that is more personalized, easy to use, and responsive, through tools like Sparky and partnerships like the one with OpenAI.
