Berkshire Hathaway purchased $23.5 billion worth of stocks in the second quarter of 2026, with the largest share of that capital flowing into Google’s parent company, Alphabet. The firm also increased its exposure to air travel and U.S. homebuilders.
Warren Buffett’s portfolio was worth nearly $300 billion at the end of June 2026. Apple remains the largest position at 22.04% of the portfolio. But by far the biggest chunk of the quarter’s total buying went into a single stock: Alphabet.
Berkshire poured $13.5 billion into Alphabet, boosting its existing position by 83%. A bet this concentrated in a single company is unusual for the conglomerate, and it inevitably raises the question of whether Buffett’s team sees Alphabet as the leader of the emerging AI era.
The second-largest purchase was airline Delta Air Lines, into which Berkshire put roughly $1.4 to $1.6 billion, lifting its stake by 44%. Delta is among the airlines with the best-hedged fuel prices, which partly shields it from shocks tied to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Third place went to homebuilder Lennar, where Berkshire invested $1.2 billion and increased its stake by 25%. On top of that, the firm opened a small new position in rival D.R. Horton. Taken together, the two purchases suggest that Berkshire, despite high interest rates, believes in a recovery in the U.S. housing market.
