Bitcoin Price Prediction: Armstrong’s Bull-Market Case Comes With Caveats

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong shared his Bitcoin price prediction. He said crypto spot trading may be nearing its next bull market during an August 20 appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box. The CNBC segment was framed around Bitcoin price trends, the state of crypto, the CLARITY Act, tokenization, and Armstrong’s meeting with President Trump.

Armstrong’s comments present an assessment from the head of a major crypto company, not confirmation that a market downturn has ended. The available interviews show how he is framing the opportunity and the risks rather than establishing a definitive direction for Bitcoin or the wider crypto market.

Past Trends Are Part of Armstrong’s Case

In the Yahoo Finance interview, Armstrong pointed to past Bitcoin trends and fear-and-greed indexes as part of his reasoning for believing the market may have found a bottom near $60,000. He also characterized the period as a winter for crypto, while calling it mild for Bitcoin specifically.

That framing leaves room for uncertainty. Armstrong explicitly said that nobody knows for sure in markets like Bitcoin. Past trends can inform an executive’s outlook, but the interview does not present them as a rule that guarantees a particular outcome.

Armstrong also identified market structure and legislation as potential drivers of Bitcoin growth. He said that artificial-intelligence companies had been absorbing substantial risk capital and suggested that public listings and subsequent unlocks could allow capital to move back around.

“If it passes, we get legislation,”

“If it doesn’t pass, the SEC and CFTC are ready to issue rules.”

Armstrong also described quantum cryptography as an issue that could be weighing on Bitcoin’s price to some degree. He said quantum computers could potentially break classic cryptography, a concern that extends beyond crypto to secure transactions more broadly.

In his account, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and other blockchains are working on road maps to make cryptographic signatures quantum-resistant.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: What This Means at Scale

Armstrong’s outlook spans more than Bitcoin’s price. His CNBC discussion included tokenization and the state of crypto, while his Yahoo Finance interview emphasized Coinbase’s product development during a period of weaker Bitcoin performance. He said the company tends to stay focused on its core work when casual interest in crypto declines.

Market Cap

He also said Coinbase had been shipping more code year over year and credited its use of artificial intelligence for helping teams move faster. Those are company-focused claims from Armstrong, but they help explain why he did not portray a mild Bitcoin winter as a pause in Coinbase’s efforts.

The supporting record shows that Armstrong sees a possible path to the next bull market for crypto spot trading and believes Bitcoin may have bottomed near $60,000. It also shows that he attached important caveats: nobody knows for sure, several conditions could affect growth, and quantum-resistant upgrades remain a work in progress.

His assessment is best understood as a conditional market view grounded in the factors he identified, not as confirmation that Bitcoin’s downturn is over. The CNBC and Yahoo Finance appearances establish Armstrong’s optimism and his reasoning, while leaving the market outcome unresolved.
