A star of the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris takes centre stage at this year’s Art Basel Paris which launches its fifth edition next month at the Grand Palais (21-25 October). Fans of the soapy, sexy Gallic drama will be delighted that the Oh La La! section, a two-day rehang across public days (Friday and Saturday), will be directed by the famed French actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, the scene-stealing actress behind Sylvie Grateau, the high-powered, straight-talking luxury marketeer on the Netflix show. Leroy-Beaulieu’s chosen theme for Oh La La!, which gives the public a chance to view rarely exhibited and provocative works, is ‘Myths and Legends’.
The fair provides plenty more to feast on meanwhile. The 2026 line-up includes 183 galleries in the main Galeries sector, 16 solo projects in Emergence, and 12 historical presentations in Premise. This year also sees 32 first-time participants, and a record 12 joint booths shared by 24 galleries. There’s more star power in Conversations with the fair’s flagship talks programme taking place in the Grand Palais auditorium for the first time. Centre Pompidou president Laurent Le Bon and Louvre chief Christophe Leribault will discuss the future of museums in conversations with the legendary French television journalist Claire Chazal.
