“Digital currencies are sometimes used as a fee instrument for illicit commerce, notably in drug trafficking, on the darknet, or for the fee of ransoms after cyberattacks,” a report issued by the Monetary Market Supervisory Authority (Finma) mentioned. “The danger of cash laundering within the area of digital foreign money is strengthened by potential anonymity and by the velocity and cross-border nature of transactions.”
