The lawsuit, filed by former congressional staffer Joe Kent within the U.S. District Courtroom for the Jap District of New York in October 2021, alleged the DeFi platform violated New York state’s playing legal guidelines by “permitting folks to evade monetary laws and rip-off customers,” in line with the unique criticism. Kent, who beforehand labored for crypto skeptic Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), filed the swimsuit as an obvious check case as legislators explored avenues to pursue authorized actions in opposition to DeFi actors.
