Robotics company 1X, based in Palo Alto, has announced the release of NEO, a new robot designed to help with household tasks and respond to voice commands.
NEO is built to work in home environments, which handles basic chores and offers support through an artificial intelligence (AI) system that allows it to understand and respond to commands.
Unlike earlier robots limited to demonstrations, NEO is made for regular use. It weighs 66 pounds, can carry items up to 154 pounds, and runs at just 22 decibels.

Its frame is made of soft materials for safety, and it includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G for easy connectivity.
NEO is powered by a tendon-drive actuation system, which allows it to move smoothly and interact safely with people. Its hands have 22 degrees of freedom, which allows it to grip and handle various objects with care.
Dar Sleeper, vice president at 1X, explained during the product announcement that NEO combines AI and modern engineering to help users manage daily chores while being safe and quiet around the house.
NEO’s built-in language model allows it to carry on conversations and remember past interactions. It can fold clothes, arrange items, and clean up rooms.
NEO can be reserved for $200. Buyers can either choose a $499 per month subscription or make a one-time payment of $20,000.
