That Old Pyrex Dish in Your Grandmother’s Cabinet Could Be Worth $4,000

Key Takeaways

  • A humble 1959 one-quart casserole, covered in shamrocks and hearts, has sold for more than $4,000 on eBay.
  • Corning’s own Pyrex archive calls Lucky in Love one of the most elusive designs ever made, likely a limited release.
  • The same dish shape in a common pattern can fetch just a few dollars, while this print can command $400 to $700 even without a lid.

Vintage Pyrex has turned into a hot secondary-market commodity, and one specific casserole dish sits at the center of the frenzy. The 1959 “Lucky in Love” print on the one-quart round Cinderella casserole (pattern #473) is tagged by the Corning Museum of Glass’s Pyrex Potluck archive as among the most elusive designs ever made, likely a limited release out of Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Collector sources say a lidless example sold for over $4,000 on eBay in 2015, while a later 2022 listing spiraled into drama after a $22,100 bid was retracted. The gap between that kind of rarity and the everyday patterns still floating around estate sales is exactly what sites like PyrexVault track, where the same shape can be worth a few bucks or hundreds depending on the print.

A hidden treasure in your kitchen cabinet?

One of my favorite parts of rummaging through a family kitchen is the moment you spot a piece of old glassware that still looks ready for a potluck. In October 2026, that little thrill comes with a real price tag for a very specific item: the Pyrex “Lucky in Love” casserole that, in the right pattern and shape, has sold for over $4,000.

The key is that this isn’t “vintage Pyrex” as a blanket category. Most pieces you’ll see at estate sales remain affordable, but a handful of limited designs have turned into collector targets, especially when the pattern is scarce and the shape matches what collectors track most closely.

Why “Lucky in Love” keeps coming up

Lucky in Love was introduced in 1959 on a one-quart round Cinderella casserole, known to collectors as pattern #473, with green shamrocks and pink hearts. Corning’s own Pyrex Potluck archive calls it one of the most elusive designs ever created and suggests it was likely a limited release.

Even the brand’s internal lore leans into the scarcity. In a line quoted by Hunker, the Pyrex team put it plainly: “Lucky in Love is from 1959 and is so rare our fan groups call it the ‘holy grail of Pyrex’,” and they tied its origins to the Corning Glass Works plant in Charleroi, Pennsylvania.

The sale that set the $4,000 benchmark

So where does that $4,000 number come from? The collector site Pyrex Collector points to an eBay sale in 2015 where an extremely rare 1959 promotional Lucky in Love 1-quart Cinderella round casserole sold for over $4,000, even without the original lid, trivet, or box.

There’s also a later headline that still circulates: a 2022 eBay listing drew a $22,100 bid across 119 bids, but the winning bidder ultimately retracted the offer, per Hunker’s recap. That drama didn’t reset the market, but it did spotlight just how heated the hunt can get for the right pattern.

What most Pyrex is worth, and what rarity really buys you

Rarity, not age, does most of the work. In a 2026 identification guide, common patterns such as Butterprint (1957 to 1968) and Spring Blossom in good condition were selling for roughly $15 to $45 per piece, while harder-to-find colorways like Pink Butterprint and Black Gooseberry landed in the $75 to $200 range.

PyrexVault goes further on the gap: a lidless casserole in a common pattern might sell for only a few dollars, while the same shape in Lucky in Love can command $400 to $700 even without its lid. That’s why, if you find a 1-quart Cinderella round with shamrocks and hearts tucked behind the mixing bowls, it’s worth a closer look.
