Dabba to Deploy 10,000 Hotspots in India for Its DePIN Network Expansion

Dabba, a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) providing wifi connectivity to underserved markets, is set to roll out 10,000 new hotspots globally. This expansion is part of season two of its demand-driven program, aiming to enhance internet access in high-demand regions across India.

Dabba has announced the launch of season two of its DePIN service, set to go live on May 23. This initiative will precede a token generation event on Solana in July. The introduction of a native token will foster a marketplace connecting data consumers with providers who build and maintain internet infrastructure. These stakeholders will be rewarded for their contributions to the Dabba network.

To support the launch, Dabba has introduced an explorer tool, allowing users to locate current data hotspots and monitor network performance. Initially, this tool will provide data from the Dabba testnet, operational for the past two months.

Since the testnet’s inception, Dabba has deployed over 1,500 hotspots, connecting more than 15,000 unique devices. This has resulted in the consumption of over 390 TB of data and generated more than $4.5K in revenue from Dabba’s low-cost wifi service. The deployment of additional hotspots aims to meet growing data demands and significantly boost revenue.

Dabba’s DePIN initiative addresses the real-world issue of wireless data shortages. By rolling out its infrastructure and securing a user base before introducing web3 features like tokenization, Dabba has ensured genuine demand and a scalable business model.

The initial focus of Dabba’s DePIN deployment is India, where both rural and semi-urban areas suffer from inadequate data solutions. Despite having the world’s second-largest number of internet users, 44% of India’s population lacks internet access.

Dabba’s team, boasting eight years of network development experience, has been instrumental in supporting Google’s public wifi initiatives in India. They have worked closely with the Indian government to ensure supportive legislation for their demand-based DePIN rollout.

Participants who join season two of Dabba’s DePIN program before the token generation event will receive enhanced genesis rewards. Dabba aims to empower over 150,000 Local Cable Operators (LCOs) functioning as micro-ISPs across India, offering a high-speed network that will enhance connectivity in the world’s fifth-largest economy.

The expansion of Dabba’s DePIN service is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide in India. By leveraging a decentralized network, Dabba not only addresses the immediate need for internet access but also sets the stage for a sustainable, community-driven model. This initiative could serve as a blueprint for similar projects in other underserved regions globally.

Dabba’s innovative approach to deploying decentralized wifi infrastructure has the potential to revolutionize internet access in high-demand areas. With the introduction of a native token and the upcoming deployment of 10,000 hotspots, Dabba is poised to make a significant impact on connectivity in underserved markets.

Dabba is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) specializing in connecting underserved markets to wireless data. Its robust network facilitates high-speed internet access through a two-way marketplace, helping bring the world online.
